In what seems to be an all too frequent occurrence these days, a sex tape is being used as a tool to extort money from a celebrity.
Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller is reportedly trying to block a woman named Elizabeth Ruiz from releasing a video of them having sex. Ruiz was asking Miller to buy the tape from her for $2.5 million.
Later, DOE asked the woman if she still had the recording, she said that she did. The pair enjoyed the luxuries of the 11,550-square-foot beachfront home that Miller had rented along with jet skiing, dining and partying with his group of friends. Ruiz has shared many photos ranging from racy shots to short comedic videos. The tape is from June of 2016 when Miller was in Cancun, Mexico.
At the time the star linebacker requested that Ruiz keep the video private and not release it.
Upon returning to the U.S., Miller spoke with Ruiz on the phone and reminded her that "he did not want anyone to see the recording and asked Ruiz to erase the recording".
A judge must now decide whether Elizabeth Ruiz is prohibited from releasing the sex tape and whether the "fee" to preempt its release and stay private amounts to extortion?
Ruiz has been looking to sell the tape for big bucks and even tried to sell the tape for Miller for $2.5 million, according to TMZ.
Miller filed legal docs in L.A. County Superior Court under the pseudonym "Doe" - but multiple sources confirm "Doe" is Miller, TMZ reported.
In arguing for the restraining order, Miller's lawyer noted that his client "depends on the appeal of his persona to many different people from virtually all walks of life, including families and children". She also has her own YouTube channel.
Ruiz responded, "Gotcha", the document states. "In fact, he's described in the legal docs as 'one of the most talented people at his craft in the US and the world'".
The 27-year-old has one of the top-selling National Football League jerseys and was slimed at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Sports Awards back in July.
