While he may no longer be employed by the UFC, Chuck Liddell still carries weight when it comes to the world of MMA.
UFC star Ronda Rousey has thanked Conor McGregor for stepping up and fighting at UFC 205 in NY when the company needed a big star in the landmark event.
Ronda Rousey's UFC 193 loss to Holly Holm over a year ago proved to be a devastating one for her, to say the least.
People buy it. The worship of money in our society is so deep. "But just because that's the easiest way to keep people's attention or entertain them doesn't mean that's the right way".
After ruling her division for so long, it was shocking to see Rousey to surrender her title, so it's not surprising that she was only interested in returning for revenge, although Liddell questions where she is at mentally. It took her months before she could do something as simple as bite down on an apple, and outside of a couple of noteworthy media appearances on Ellen and Conan, she shied away from doing much press.
Rousey said she was becoming "one of those people who live their lives to impress everyone else".
Rousey explained that she was trying to please too many people, and was struck with a harsh reality of depression following the defeat.
I've had no money before, and it wasn't the end of the world.
"I will never put my body at risk for money and views ever again".
And Rousey - who makes her grand return to the octagon at UFC 207 against Amanda Nunes - has already been in the wrestling ring after popping up to slap WWE owner Vince McMahon's daughter Stephanie at Wrestlemania 2015. "What makes me happy is winning and being the best in the world and that's it", she added. And anyone who tries to tell me I owe them energy on frivolous shit during camp out of "loyalty" or "friendship" deserves no loyalty from me and is no friend of mine.
"This is not a time for f-ing favors".
Rousey will get back in action for the first time in over a year while taking on Nunes, who became the women's bantamweight champion in July with a submission victory over Miesha Tate at UFC 200.
