Riccardo Tisci Exits Givenchy After 12 Years

The Designer Responsible for Beyoncé's and Kim Kardashian's Best Looks Is Out at Givenchy

Riccardo Tisci Departs Givenchy

The Italian designer has successfully showcased his distinctive views and surpassed what Givenchy was previously known for, while retaining the essence of what the Parisian fashion house has always been about.

In a statement to WWD, Bernard Arnault, chairman and chief executive officer of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, Givenchy's parent company, praised Mr Tisci's achievements. He added: "I now wish to focus on my personal interests and passions".

LVMH said in a statement that the new creative organisation of Givenchy will be communicated at a later date. She was a loyal client of Hubert de Givenchy's collection.

The French couture house confirmed his departure exclusively to WWD on Thursday, noting that his last collections were fall men's wear and spring couture, which were paraded together at the National Library of France in Paris on January 20.

Most recently, Meryl Streep wore his design to the Golden Globes, and he has earned a bevvy of other A-list fans, including Beyonce, Cate Blanchett, Jessica Chastain, and Naomi Campbell.

"I have very special affection for the House of Givenchy and its attractive teams", said Riccardo Tisci. Tisci became famous for his distinctive graphic sweatshirts, sportswear-inspired apparel, and highly embellished collections of haute couture.

During his time at the label, Tisci has brought a darker, gothic vibe to Givenchy that has made the brand cult-like with big names on the hip-hop scene like Rihanna, Usher, Pusha T and, perhaps most famously, Kanye West. Tisci also booked Brazilian transgender model Lea T. for the advertising campaign, as well as casting her to walk in Givenchy's ready-to-wear runway show in 2010. He is a very close friend with the fashion designer, Donatella Versace. Later on, he designed Kim Kardashian's wedding dress in 2014. It wouldn't be such a surprising move considering how close the two are: Donatella Versace starred in Givenchy's autumn/winter 2015 campaign.
