Mayock played three seasons in the National Football League as a safety.

Now at NFL Network, Mayock has emerged as one of the top draft gurus on television, an NFL Network answer to Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay.

According to two sources, Redskins owner Daniel Snyder is an admirer of Mayock's work.

"Regarding Adam Schefter's report about the Redskins GM position: There has been no official contact between myself and the team and no interviews about the job", Mayock wrote in a statement released through NFL Network. From 2011 to 2013, he did Thursday Night Football with Brad Nessler. The best candidates are probably assistant general managers and other front office executives already signed with teams for the 2017-2018 season. Who's going to give us our mock drafts if Mayock is gone? McCloughan once joked about scouting a linebacker with a lower grade so that he could draft the player himself. Washington is reportedly in no rush to hire a GM and could wait until after the NFL Draft in late April.
