Bryan, who's marking his fifth year hosting the show, cracked jokes about his duties at the country music party held annually in Las Vegas and airing live on CBS. Lambert's moving, acoustic performance of "Tin Man", during the show also served as a reminder of why the songwriter won two of the night's best accolades.
"This is odd. David?" asked "Entertainment Tonight" host Nancy O'Dell, who had the winner's card in her hand. Their moves were just as on point as they were 20 years ago when their hit "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" was released.
The Academy of Country Music Awards returned to Las Vegas on Sunday, delivering surprises, first-time winners and exciting performances.
At the end of the night, Jason Aldean won the Entertainer of the Year trophy for the second year in the row. The singer was awarded album of the year.
This year it was all Miranda though, with the Little Red Wagon star beating Carrie Underwood, Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris to be named the victor.
Miranda Lambert was another big victor, scoring two trophies.
Teaming up with the Backstreet Boys, Florida Georgia Line blended country and pop when they performed "God, Your Mama and Me". The track hails from her sixth studio album, The Weight of These Wings, which won Album of the Year.
The actual ceremony, however, felt decidedly more serious than years past, with a majority of artists opting to perform ballads, and banter from Bryan and Bentley kept to a minimum.
Jason Aldean took home the Entertainer of the Year at the 2017 Academy of Country Music Awards.
Todd and Savannah Chrisley introduced Brett Eldredge, who sang "Somethin' I'm Good At". "And I'm glad to see females kicking (butt) these days". However, ACM's new female vocalist of the year victor, Maren Morris, may pull off her first album of the year win with "Hero", which was nominated for best country album at this year's Grammys. "I just want to thank Miranda for being willing to looking deep in her soul and bringing her life into her art", he said.

Video of the Year went to Forever Country Artists for "Then, Now & Forever", a pastiche of country hits by a slew of artists including Little Big Town and Tim McGraw.
Kellie Pickler presented new female vocalist of the year Maren Morris, who took the stage to sing "I Could Use a Love Song".
