The season-opener for both teams will be Florida State's eighth appearance on the coveted ESPN Labor Day Monday Night package and will be Virginia Tech's fourth.
Virginia Tech has confirmed that the 2018 season opener at Florida State will be played on Labor Day, Monday, September 3rd, and will be televised by ESPN in prime time.
The Hokies' 2015 game against Ohio State is the highest-rated Labor Day night game ever for the network drawing 10,585,000 viewers.
In recent years, the FSU football program has been a part of some of the top games to open the college football season. Their other Labor Day games featured Pitt in 2013, Miami in 2009, Clemson in 2007 and Miami in 2006 and 2005.
The Seminoles are also scheduled to host Notre Dame on Labor Day to kick off their 2021 season.
The Seminoles will face Virginia Tech for the first time since a 28-22 victory in 2012. The 'Noles will play at Notre Dame on November 10 and host Florida on November 24.
Florida State is playing Alabama to open the 2017 season in one of the biggest non-conference games of the season. In 2010 the Tyrod Taylor led Hokies defeated the then No. 21 Seminoles, 44-33, to win their third ACC title.
