Ominous voice over by Mark Hamill saying the Jedi must end????
The teaser racked up more than 480,000 YouTube views in less than an hour.
When we last saw her, Rey traveled the universe in search of Luke Skywalker.
After failing at starting a new Jedi Order, Luke notoriously went into hiding, and Star Wars fans were left with questions about what he's been up to since. She found him alone on a cliffside, but that doesn't appear to be where she is in the "Last Jedi" trailer. If you recall, Finn helped form the plan to destroy Starkiller Base in The Force Awakens.
"In The Last Jedi, it's a test for all the characters, but specifically for Finn". She can be heard describing "light, darkness and violence". And, just as Luke experienced powerful visions that ultimately dictated the course of his path and his eventual showdown with Vader, Rey too seems to have as strong of a prophetic ability - if not stronger. With The Force Awakens, however, those dividing lines are beginning to blur. Rey emerged victorious, though it wasn't looking good for her at first.
Who's Calling For The Destruction Of The Jedi?
But aside from these external cues, there are a few other moments in the trailer that may subtly, or unsubtly, be hinting at Rey's deeper delve into the nature of the Dark Side. He's talking, though it's not clear who he's talking to, about the Jedis. "He wants to find his place now", Boyega said.
Written and directed by Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi features yet another all-star level cast featuring the aforementioned Boyega, Driver, Hamill, and Ridley as well as fellow franchise players Gwendoline Christie, Anthony Daniels, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o and Andy Serkis.
