Whatever (or whoever) it's about, "The Cure" is definitely a step in a different direction for Lady Gaga, following closely behind last year's rock album, Joanne, for which she'll be touring later this year.
Gaga announced that it was her first time at Coachella, along with her crew members of almost 10 years.
Lady Gaga started out wearing a black trench coat, which she quickly took off to reveal an all black leotard and leggings underneath. The song is called "The Cure", but based on the 30-second preview versions of the song that you can hear on your preferred music delivery service, it doesn't seem to be about the Robert Smith band. In addition, Gaga included "Telephone," one of her collaborations with Beyoncé, in her set list, and opted to simply go silent during Bey's part, according to USA Today. Beyonce will has committed to headlining Coachella in 2018. It's not the Gaga that we've come to know over the years. Once the meetings are done, it's creating the setlist, making changes to the setlist.
Unlike videos like "John Wayne", which required two days of rehearsals after a month of talks or the Super Bowl, which was three months of discussions with the National Football League, with Coachella as soon as they got the confirmation it was "Go!". She ended the night with "Poker Face" and "Bad Romance", proving that her performance at the festival was for her fans.
They did it, though, pulling the hour-plus set together in less than a month-and-a-half.
It's a good day to be a Lady Gaga fan! "It's too crowded, you can't enjoy yourself and it's not as fun", said Jane Gaje of San Francisco. Like, will there be a surprise guest?
"You cure me every time with your love", Germanotta told the audience.
