"Fox News had no choice". Went to Bill, came back, he said "No, he was never going to apologize".

Wendy Walsh, a regular guest on O'Reilly's show, told the Times the cable TV anchor retracted a lucrative role as a Fox contributor after she rebuffed his sexual advances in 2013. He still went ahead and signed a new contract with Fox, however. But the New York Times reported that two of the O'Reilly settlements were reached after Ailes left.
After a thorough and careful review of allegations against him, the Company and Bill O'Reilly have agreed that Mr. O'Reilly will not return to the Fox News Channel. His departure is a significant blow to the Fox News lineup, which dominated the prime-time cable news ratings.
Representatives at Fox News and its parent, 21st Century Fox, were not immediately available for comment about how O'Reilly might be replaced.
And he keeps echoing in the broader media landscape.
ABC News has not been able to independently verify the claims made in it.
Paul Janensch, a former newspaper editor and retired journalism professor at Quinnipiac University, said in the end it came down to money and the "paradox" that while ratings were up, advertisers were fleeing in their droves.
O'Reilly and President Donald Trump are both "crowd-pleasing showmen who know how to signal to loyalists in their audience that they are not taking themselves quite as seriously as their detractors are", said news consultant Andrew Tyndall.
His show generated $178 million in advertising revenue in 2015, according to Kantar Media.
He and the network ultimately paid $13 million to settle with five women over the course of several years, according to an investigation by The New York Times published earlier this month. Despite claiming he'd return to his show on April 24, tongues at Fox wagged that the journalist wouldn't actually be back as dozens of advertisers had pulled their commercials from The O'Reilly Factor.
"This decision follows an extensive review done in collaboration with outside counsel", 21st Century Fox said in an email to employees, which was obtained by CNN.
"I spent over nine years playing a character based largely on him", Colbert said. Carlson received a $20 million settlement from 21st Century Fox in September. Fox News Channel announced Wednesday O'Reilly has immediately departed the network.
Powers said she quit O'Reilly's show, but returned three years later. The only way to know for sure is to be on the inside; from an outside point of view, the appearance is deeply troubling. Francis said in February: 'A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian'. "Were they watching?" Noah wondered.
Don't expect O'Reilly to slip quietly away, said Annenberg's Hollihan. That's not to say that another network might now pick him up.
"What Rush Limbaugh was to talk radio, Bill O'Reilly has been to conservative television", said Mark Feldstein, communication professor at the University of Maryland.
While O'Reilly survived then, the accumulation of cases outlined in the Times damaged him much more extensively. "No more silencing women!"
O'Reilly's public statement on Wednesday gave no indication about what he might do next.
"Hello, nation", Colbert began.
"I owe a lot to Bill O'Reilly". You didn't deserve this great man.
