Trump says he was unaware of son's meeting with Russian lawyer

In an interview Wednesday, Trump defended his son's decision to meet with a Russian lawyer who he was told may have damaging information about Hillary Clinton.

This was a few months after the now-notorious meeting Goldstone set up at Trump Tower involving Donald Trump Jr., campaign manager Paul Manafort, and presidential staffer-and-son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Trump has praised his son for transparency and openness in dealing with the situation.

The emails between Goldstone and Trump Jr. suggested the publicist would be able to broker a meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Russian lawyer with ties to the Kremlin, in order to furnish information harmful to Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign. He gave the Christian station an interview early on in his presidency and he has chosen them again in the midst of the latest and most damning Russian Federation related controversy.

Asked whether he would invite Putin, Trump said he would "at the right time". Emin asked that I schedule a meeting with you and the Russian government attorney who is flying over from Moscow for this Thursday.

At the end of the G-20, Macron announced a December summit in Paris, celebrating the two-year anniversary of the agreement and discussing the path forward.

"In eight months of investigations, there's no single fact that's been put on the table", Lavrov said of allegations that Kremlin-sponsored hackers attempted to influence last year's US presidential election campaign.

The emails offered the most concrete evidence to date that Trump campaign officials embraced an offer of Russian help to win the election, a subject that has cast a cloud over Trump's presidency and spurred multiple investigations.

The incident has raised questions of whether members of Trump's campaign coordinated with Russian Federation to hurt Clinton and help Trump. "He said, 'I think he accepted it, but you'll have to ask him.' That's a big difference".

In another development, Huckabee Sanders said the White House "not aware" whether the president signed off on Don Jr.'s Russian Federation statement as it was crafted aboard Air Force One Saturday.

The president, again on Twitter, pushed back Wednesday on the narrative of a dysfunctional administration, writing that the White House "is functioning perfectly" and claiming that "I have very little time for watching T.V".

"These are people who have never been in government", Matt Schlapp, a conservative close to the White House told Politico. Trump Jr.'s meeting, with emails explicitly outlining that the Russian government was aiming to help his father, arguably provide some of the most clear possible links yet.

USA intelligence agencies have concluded that the Russian government meddled in the 2016 election to bolster Trump and to hurt Clinton.

"He had a meeting, nothing happened with the meeting", Trump said, referring to his 39-year-old son as a "good boy".

The Russia allegations forced US Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from the federal investigation into Russian meddling in the election after media reports revealed he held undisclosed meetings with the Russian ambassador to Washington, Sergei Kislyak.
