John Bernecker, stuntman, dies from injuries suffered on 'The Walking Dead' set

Bernecker suffered blunt force trauma to the head and was flown from the scene to Atlanta Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Hawk said.

The filming of "The Walking Dead" season 8 has been suspended after a stuntman died on the set, but it does not seem to affect the show's premiere schedule.

A statement from SAG-AFTRA, a union that represents media workers, on Friday said Bernecker was an "accomplished" stuntman and called his death a "tragic and untimely loss".

"We are deeply saddened by this loss and our hearts and prayers are with John's family, friends and colleagues during this extremely hard time", AMC said Friday. This could mean that their respective characters Simon, Jadis, Enid, and Jadis will play a bigger part in the show's upcoming installments.

"We will work with the authorities and closely monitor their investigations into this tragic incident", SAG-AFTRA added.

The AMC network confirmed "John Bernecker's family has decided that he will be removed from life support following organ donation". The 33 year-old man was immediately helicoptered to the hospital in Atlanta.

The Walking Dead team have paid an emotional tribute to stuntman John Bernecker, who died on Thursday following a fall.

On Wednesday, July 12, AMC halted production on the new season after Bernecker was seriously injured on set.

"We are deeply saddened by this loss and our hearts and prayers are with John's family, friends and colleagues during this extremely hard time", the network said in a statement. Bernedecker also did stunts in Logan, The Fate Of The Furious, The Hunger Games, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Olympus Has Fallen, Goosebumps, Get Out and Black Panther. Our thoughts and prayers are with the performer and his family.
