The five original supermodels return to catwalk for Versace tribute

The five supermodels, the original women who elevated model to a celebrity status walked arm in arm with Donatella for the final look. Have more questions? They'll likely all be answered on Ryan Murphy's upcoming series, American Crime Story: Versace. She admitted the show had been an emotional moment.

The supermodels were absolutely everywhere - including Gianni Versace's runway as the Versace Golden Girls. "It was all top secret, none of us could tell anyone [about the finale with the other supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen and Carla Bruni], and each one stayed in a different hotel".

It is for the first time since her brother's death that Donatella went back into the archives and pulled out 12 prints that she reproduced for the tribute collection with a few alterations, keeping in mind the shift in tastes over the years.

And what an incredible tribute it was, because these ladies are living legends.

Donatella, 62, joined the group as they strutted down the runway to George Michael's "Freedom".

Pass a gaudily-decorated '90s handkerchief, please.

Last year, Crawford, Schiffer, and Campbell also did their thing in an ad for Balmain's spring 2016 collection, as shot by Steven Klein, but to see them in action was another beast entirely.

But in a rather sweet turn of events, Kaia Gerber also walked in the show, making her mother, Cindy Crawford, proud and fashion audiences marveling at a strong legacy of models.

"This is the celebration of a genius, this is the celebration of an icon, this is the celebration of my brother", said the runway show's voiceover. Just look at these designs from the past and present! So for Spring Summer 2018, as the house approaches its 40th anniversary, was the moment to pay tribute to Gianni, as the soundtrack related "This is a celebration of a genius".
