Finally, after two years and various setbacks, the Utah couple's application was approved, and they gave Tannah's school office manager Jackie Alexander permission to share the good news. She asked me if I would be sure to tell her sweet girl when she came to my desk for her daily visit.
Tannah Butterfield dreamed of the day her foster parents would be able to make it official and adopt her and her two younger siblings.
Alexander shared the video on Instagram, writing, "This is pure testament that in a world full of turmoil and strife, there is still light and joy to be found in little everyday moments".
The school's security camera captured the touching moment last week. Alexander stated, "I got her shoulders and stated, 'Have you heard the news child? You get your forever family", Jackie Alexander said.
"She just held me tighter and tighter, so I took advantage of that".
"They are just caring, loving, they take really good care of me", Tannah told local media. "I just thought oh my gosh we did the right thing".
Tannah, 11, along with her brother Teagun, 6, and sister Tallie, 2, will be part of their own "forever family" later this fall. I don't think even I could understand myself what that moment would feel like. In 12 years at this activity, this is by a wide margin my best minute ever! "I just kissed her up one side and down the other side".
"It's the biggest thing that ever happened to me", Tannah said. Little did Butterfield know, Miss Jackie (Alexander) had some awesome news for her young friend.
Tannah was so happy she couldn't let go of Miss Jackie. "It was like, 'ah, ' it was like screaming", Tannah said.
