Two commandos, two militants killed in Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid said these militants were involved in a number of terror attacks in which security forces personnel and civilians were killed.

Two air force commandos and two attackers were killed during a gunbattle Wednesday in occupied Kashmir, the army said, during an upsurge in violence in the disputed region.

As per the reports in this encounter Two Indian Air Force commandos were also Killed while Bandipora encounter.

The police official also said that both slain militants were local Kashmiris belonging to the Lashkar-e-Taiba militant outfit. This attack result to the injuries of two jawans and also two Garud personnel martyred.

The operation started when the army cordoned off Hajin area after a specific input about the presence of rebels, officials said. The security forces have been giving a befitting reply and foiling all attempts to vitiate atmosphere in the state. Apolice official said two AK rifles, one pistol, one hand grenade 12 AK magazines and 75 rounds were recovered from the scene of the encounter.

The area saw intense clashes between surging crowds and the security forces after the killing of militants.

Last week, three rebels and an Indian paramilitary personnel were killed in an attack, when the rebels stormed an army camp outside the airport in Srinagar. The terrorists have been identified as Abu Bakr and Nasrullah Mir. The firing stopped and a search operation was launched thereafter.

The Garud force, tasked with guarding air force bases, trained in fight terrorists and insurgents and in search and rescue, origins lie in Jammu and Kashmir. The operation is still underway, the report said.
