The deceased have been identified as driver Doreal Rogers, 20; front-seat passenger Alesia Maddox, 20; and Armonie Maddox and Ervin Johnson, both 18, who were in the back.

"My father and I stopped to see if everybody was okay but I was going back down towards the vehicle I seen the two bodies and I had to go stop traffic because if I didn't stop traffic it wouldn't been another bad sight", a witness to the crash told FOX 2 Detroit. However, a two-year-old in a auto seat escaped with minor injuries.

First responders in Detroit found four dead at the scene of a crash, which occurred early Monday morning near 8 Mile Road on I-94.

“The baby was in the vehicle seat. that was the only thing that probably. saved the baby, ” a tearful John Wade, who was at the scene of the crash, told WXYZ-TV (Channel 7).

State police said a preliminary investigation revealed the 2006 Buick SUV was traveling in the left lane at a high rate of speed passing other traffic when the driver lost control.

Shaw said Armonie and Alesia are brother and sister.

Wade believed the auto seat was the only thing that saved the toddler's life.

The passengers were not wearing seat belts.

Police say the tyke additionally was in the SUV and had minor wounds.

Four people died after an SUV crashed on the I-94 in MI, but police say a toddler walked away with only minor injuries. State police say a auto accident recreation unit is researching.

Lt. Shaw said there is no evidence of alcohol or narcotics being a factor in the crash, but the investigation is continuing.
