"One of the best things that happened (Monday) night after Curtis (was hurt) is we didn't really feel like we missed a beat".
Samuel injured his ankle in the second quarter of last night's win over the Miami Dolphins.
A second-round pick in the 2017 National Football League draft out of Ohio State, Samuel caught a career-high five passes for 45 yards in the first half against the Dolphins before the injury.
He is scheduled to have surgery on the injured ankle and eventually be placed on injured reserve.
"There were a lot of good things", offensive coordinator Mike Shula said Tuesday. Shula said of Samuel.
Panthers second-year wide receiver Damiere Byrd is eligible to return from injured reserve in Week 13 versus the New Orleans Saints. "We're going to try hard to find ways to put guys in place with what they do best, and have them go do it". His left foot was rolled over by a defender after he dropped what should have been an easy touchdown catch.
Now, with Samuel out for the season, the Panthers have to turn to others to inject that much-needed speed. Samuel, a product of Ohio State, played running back for the Buckeyes before shifting to wide receiver in the NFL.
Even after Samuel left the game, the Panthers continued to pile up yards and points in the 45-21 victory. Guys came in and did their job, knew their assignments.
