Jarvis Landry scored Dolphins first TD of the night

Their eight-game win streak is over, their 14-game road win streak is over, and the Patriots have to wait another week to try and claim another AFC East title.

The New England Patriots have turned to the "next man up" and had continued success, which nearly makes it a surprise when it doesn't happen.

Cutler's best throw of the night may have been a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jakeem Grant, who finished with two catches for 42 yards. Despite turning in a good performance this week, Cutler won't be more than a mid-range QB2 against Buffalo in Week 15.

The 40-year-old was sacked twice and hit six total times, according to National Football League gamebooks. That's the first time since 1991 that a Patriots offense failed to convert a third down opportunity.

New England dropped to 10-3, one game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers for the best record in the AFC.

He scored the first receiving touchdown of his career when Jay Cutler connected with him for a 25-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to give the Dolphins a 20-10 lead. But a pair of penalties pushed them back to the 16, and Stephen Gostowski's 33-yard field goal with 53 seconds left got New England within a touchdown.

The Patriots went 0-for-11 on third down, something they'd never done with Brady at quarterback.

On a night where the Patriots had few answers, at least that one was succinct.

"We got behind, turned it over, and had to play on their terms all night", he said.

NOTES: Dolphins DE Andre Branch sustained a first-half knee injury and did not return.

The first quarter ended with the Dolphins holding a 6-0 lead.

That one-handed snag went for 20 yards, and gave the offense some much-needed momentum.

Hogan has been sidelined since Game 8 because of a shoulder injury. He didn't do much, catching just one of the five passes that went his way, but he was back on the field. New England added DE Jonathan Freeny to its roster. The Pats basically have to win out in order to finish as the No. 1 seed.

Offensively, the Dolphins are averaging 17.4 points and 292.6 total yards (207.9 in passing and 84.7 in rushing) per game.
