In the few months since Facebook added the feature, Instagram has 200 million users making use of it daily - more than Snapchat's entire user base. Snap faces intense competition in the social media realm, with many companies building almost identical versions to some of Snapchat's most popular features, principally Stories.



Snap user growth slows, revenue misses in first report after IPO

On Wednesday, Snapchat reported adding just 8 million daily users in the March quarter. The company reported a $US2.2 billion loss (compared to its loss of "only" $US515 million for the whole of last year) on revenue of $US149 million. Snapchat has come under intense pressure from Facebook in recent months, with the social media giant adding several Snapchat-like features to its own network, which includes Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.
