On appeal, a divided three-judge panel of the Sixth Circuit said that no warrants were needed for the records because Carpenter "had no reasonable expectation of privacy in cellphone location records held by his service provider". Multiple lower courts have ruled that no warrant is necessary to obtain cell phone location data because of the third-party doctrine and because the users "voluntarily" give such data away to carriers.

Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre Director K. Sivan said "The design carrying capacity of the rocket is four tonnes". India successfully launched its heaviest-ever rocket on Monday which it hopes will eventually be able to carry astronauts into space, a feat that only Russian Federation, the United States and China have achieved, its space agency said.
