Even cooler weather follows for Thursday and Friday with highs in the mid 60s. Saturday looks partly sunny and warmer with temperatures in the mid and upper 70s. A cold front will work closer to the Commonwealth today while sparking off scattered showers and thunderstorms. Yesterday's cool front didn't bring an immediate cool-down to the area, but we should see temperatures about 3-5 degrees cooler this afternoon.

The storm is the 10th hurricane that has developed in the Atlantic this season. It is now around 760 miles south-west of the Portuguese Azore islands, whipping up 75mph winds as it trundles eastwards. The storm tied a record for the most consecutive storms to reach hurricane force, meteorologist Philip Klotzbach of Colorado State University said.
